Recent Stock Purchase V – September 2015

Last week, I invested in 2 companies: Kinder Morgan (KMI) and ONEOK Inc. (OKE). I plan to use these dividend growth stocks to build my passive dividend income in the coming weeks and months. Portfolio shows the latest positions at the end of August.

Below are the companies that I put my capital on towards my race for earning $3000 per month in 3000 days. Last month, I completed 120 days of my race and this month, I’ll be completing 150 days of race this month. Without further ado:

1) Kinder Morgan, Inc. (KMI): 20 positions at $29.00 on 9/24: $580.00
2) ONEOK Inc. (OKE): 20 positions at $35.00 on 9/24: $700.00

Total Investments: $1,280.00

I’ve 52 wonderful companies in my portfolio, achieving my initial goal to own 50 companies so that I’m diversified across various sectors and not putting all eggs in one basket. Now, I’m planning to add few more quality companies in my kitty.

Full Disclosure: Long on both mentioned stocks.

Thanks for reading.

Planning to add any of these companies? Any favorites outta there.

  1. I clicked expecting an article on (V) Visa lol. You know you’ve been doing this a long time when you interpret everything as a ticker symbol.

Congratulations on your progress, you have an extremely diversified portfolio!

    • Hi DD,

Ha! I definitely love to add Visa in my portfolio 🙂 It’s in my watch list. No question about that, these ticker symbols tickle the snow flakes, that someday will become a big snowball rolling down the hill and gathering more pace.

I initially targeted to own 50 companies and now that I’ve 52, my target will revise in future. I’ll probably add 10-15 high quality companies for good diversification.

  2. I can’t keep up with all your buys. I admire the gusto you have in accumulating dividend paying stocks but I would just take a breath once in a while and look at the whole picture. After all, this is a marathon and not a sprint. Good values/buys will always be found. Nice buys even though I don’t own either. Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi DH,

I’m definitely on a roll last several months and market is making me run faster than I would like. However, I’m glad that market is offering us patient investors ample opportunities. Could not agree more that its marathon and we are playing for long term. Much appreciate liking my buys and kind words as well. Its always good to hear from views from the DGI bloggers. You are great over there as well.

Thanks for stopping by and appreciate adding your perspective.

  3. I read an article last night that said “cash is king”, I guess the same people has been saying it since 2008. If they had invested in 2008, they would double or even triple what they have. Yes, it’s a pain to see your portfolio go down, but nobody knows when it will bottom, and in the meanwhile they miss all the dividend income that your money can generate.

Great buys! I added KMI myself recently.

    • Hi Vivianne,

Fully agree. People have been saying that: Cash is king and lot of people went to cash in 2008 or 2009 when market crashed. However, that was the worst time to go to cash. They will sure miss all the dividends they could had all these years.

Its either investing or speculating. As a patient investor and not as a speculator, I like to buy at regular interval so that cash is put to work as soon as I can lay my hand on any available capital. In fact, I do not keep much cash, except for a small amount for emergencies.

Thanks for stopping by and adding nice thoughts.

    • Hi IH,

Glad to hear that we are both happy shareholders in KMI and OKE. Our future shelf will thank our present shelf for adding such fantastic dividend streams 🙂

Thanks for stopping by as always and commenting.

  4. Nice pickup here! I own KMI and I am starting to run out of reasons why I should not purchase the stock. While I don’t own NOV, I have seen many investors in the community pick up shares. Seems to be a great company!

Congrats and way to add some nice dividend income to your portfolio!

    Bert

    • Hi Bert,

Glad to be fellow shareholder in KMI and it is absolutely a gem for long term investors though short term, it can still encounter some more turbulence. Due to sliding stocks of drilling energy companies, NOV has taken a big hit on the chin, however, it will be fine over time and good time to pick. I also like super-majors like RDS B, CVX and COP and XOM. Appreciate the kind words!
