Recent Stock Purchase III – March 2016

I initiated positions in 2 new companies: Cummins Inc (CMI), and CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (CNP) in third week of March. I plan to keep adding these dividend growth stocks to grow my passive dividend income to a point where all my expenses are covered by the passive income generated by them. I also initiated a position in an ETF: S&P Metals and Mining (XME) as I do not own much of commodity or resources stocks and want to have some exposure to this beaten down sector.

Below are the companies where I put my capital on towards my race for earning $3000 per month in 3000 days. Last month, I completed 300 days of my freedom race and it was nice to have crossed $600 in passive income as well for the first time. Without further ado:

1) Cummins Inc, (CMI): 5 positions at $106.25 on 3/14
2) CenterPoint Energy, Inc. (CNP): 25 positions at $20.77 on 3/15
3) S&P Metals and Mining (XME): 50 positions at $21.33 on 3/18

JAB holding completed the acquisition of Keurig Green Mountain Inc. (GMCR) in Mar and as a result I got paid at $91.00/share while my cost/share was close to $45.00; a nice capital appreciation, though, hate to let it go away, as I wanted to have some caffeine in my portfolio 🙂  Due to addition of new companies over last several weeks and a reduction in one company, total number was 77 wonderful companies/etfs in my portfolio. I think that 75-90 companies is a good number to ultimately shoot for, what do you think?

Full Disclosure: Long on above mentioned stocks.

Thanks for reading.

Like these buys or thinking to add them?

  1. R2R,

Great buys R2R, I really like CMI a lot i hold few shares hopping to add more as i think fair value is around $117.00 so its a bargain at this level. Happy to be fellow shareholders and collect the dividends it provides steady as ever.
    Happy dividend hunting.

    Cheers,

    DP

    • Hi DP,

Completely agree. Glad to be fellow shareholders in CMI and it is at nice valuation now. I’ll be happy to add more if price goes further down. I also want to add few more industrial names like GE, CAT, RTN and waiting for right price to enter. With economy not growing much and with rate of earnings growth slowing down, I expect some more correction, and that will provide a good entry point. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
