Recent Stock Purchase I – October 2015

Last week, I invested in 7 companies and plan to use these dividend growth stocks to build my passive dividend income in the coming weeks and months. I updated my Portfolio and it shows my latest positions at the end of September.

Below are the companies that I put my capital on towards my race for earning $3000 per month in 3000 days. Last month, I completed 150 days of my race and this month, I’ll be completing 180 days of race. Without further ado:

1) BHP Billiton plc (BBL): 30 positions at $34.85 on 10/08: $1,045.50
2) BP plc (BP): 30 positions at $35.30 on 10/08: $1,059.00
3) Chevron Corp. (CVX): 10 positions at $90.00 on 10/09: $900.00
4) GlaxoSmithKline (GSK): 10 positions at 39.50 on 10/08: 395.00
5) ONEOK Inc. (OKE): 30 positions at $39.50 on 10/09: $1,177.20
6) Royal Dutch Shell (RDS B): 20 positions at 55.68 on 10/08: $1,113.60
7) W.P. Carey, Inc. (WPC): 20 positions at $60.10 on 10/09: $1,202.00

Total Investments: $6,892.30

I’ve 52 wonderful companies in my portfolio, achieving my initial goal to own 50 companies so that I’m diversified across various sectors and not putting all eggs in one basket. Now, I’m planning to add few more quality companies in my kitty.

Full Disclosure: Long on both mentioned stocks.

Thanks for reading.

Do you own any of the above companies or planning to buy.

  1. Here we go again. I just love these updates. You are attacking these dividend paying stocks with vigor. Follow the yield I see. Energy is where a lot of it is at. Are you concerned about becoming too heavy in the sector?

    • Hi DH,

Yeah. I’m working vigorously to build my portfolio from scratch and it has been a fantastic journey so far. I look at quality companies and if they are yielding decent yields, so, be it. Currently, energy companies are at great valuations and that’s reason why I’m after them. However, they have bounced back nicely: 20-30% up and I’ll be moderating their purchases. If there is any sector at great valuation, I’m for it.

Frankly, I’m not too concerned about heavy in energy as I’m in initial phase of portfolio construction and keep on diversifying into other sectors with progression of time. Healthcare, industrial, and reit are other sectors that I’m considering.

Thanks for stopping by and nice comments.

  2. Looks like you scooped up quite a bit of O&G related stocks. Solid purchases and I admire your consistency in being able to add significant capital week after week. You must be having a pretty high savings rate to be able to invest that much each month. Keep up the the good work and best of luck on reaching $3k in 3,000 days!

    • Hi JC,

Ha. I did scoop up O&G energy stocks a bit 🙂 Appreciate a lot your kind words. I’m starting right out of the gate and need to ramp up my investments, however, they will moderate as I almost using up my built up capital. My race towards $3K in 3K days is turning out to be challenging and interesting!

Thanks for stopping by and adding nice comments.

  3. Wow, that’s a lot of investments in one month. You’re well on your way to meet your goal. We’re low on liquidity at the moment so we’re on the sideline for now. Once we get a new tenant, I’ll be able to relax a bit and perhaps invest a little.
    Good luck!

    • Hi RB40,

This was a tough month to initiate purchases as market did not cooperate however, I did buy few O&G energy companies. I’m getting little heavy in energy and need to balance with other companies in other sectors. You also did heavy shopping last quarter and doing great with your passive income! Congrats on great job over there.

Thanks for stopping by and appreciate the comments.
