Dividend Income Update – May 2016

I’ve completed 390 days of freedom race and it has been awesome with all the support. I’m truly blessed to be posting it from the country where Statue of Liberty stands. It stands for freedom and I hope to achieve my own financial freedom in 3000 days when I complete my race.

Wow. I finally crossed a milestone figure of $1000 in passive income for the first time ever, holly smoking! I’m super excited to write about my passive dividends received in month of May. They flowed into my account even without me lifting any fingers. So far, I’ve got 92 fantastic companies in my Portfolio. Last month, I also celebrated my first Blogoversary. Time passes fast! Grateful to have such a committed readership and the great support of all DGI bloggers.

I hope that this passive income report provides inspiration to all the readers out there that even when you are starting out fresh, you can still do it, like my journey just one year back. Although, it is a long race: slow and steady, we can win it on our terms and time. Without further ado, here are dividends received:

Apple Inc. (AAPL) : $8.55
Abbvie Inc. (ABBV): $17.10

Verizon Communications. Inc. (VZ): $84.75
Yum Brands, Inc. (YUM): $4.60

Total passive dividend income for May: $1,380.78.

Instead of getting a single salary once a month, I got paid by above companies throughout the month, simply by owning a tiny sliver of a slice. Imagine that there are thousands of people hired by those companies and that they are working for you, rather than, you working for them. This feeling of achieving financial freedom over 3000 days, is what drives me to keep racing and I’m sure readers alike!

Full Disclosure: Long on above mentioned stocks.

How did your passive dividend income come along in May?

    • Hi DH,

Appreciate much. May was a fantastic month for me, closing over $1K. High Five! Its tough to begin this journey and more challenging to sustain it, however, it is rewarding in long run. Cheers. Thanks for stopping by as always.

  2. That’s a nice long list of companies paying for the month of May. Definitely a diverse income stream. Congrats on cracking $1k for the month as well as one full year of blogging. Time really does go by fast. Enjoyed following your own journey and your whirlwind buys. You are one of the few, very, very busy buyers among the dividend blogs I follow. Nice to see more than a handful of names in common too. Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi DH,

Thank you for greetings. Appreciate it! I want to get income from diverse sources rather than few. Time does goes fast and now, its almost half year gone by. I’m glad to get that title of “v busy buyer” 🙂 Hope it helps in long run. We will be happy campers in many of those companies. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi PIP,

Yeah. It was a great feeling to cross $1K in style 🙂 I consider $1K as a small step in the direction of earning $3K in 3K. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi DD,

Appreciate the kind words. Definitely, it was a milestone to cross $1K with many sources of income. $1300 can cover lot of bills: tel, utils, insurance, taxes, etc. Earning passive income gives us the power to do what we love doing in our life, and getting away from daily shackles of 9-5 rat race. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi IH,

Absolutely! I got 2 additional checks from TD & JPM in May, that should have come in April and so, May income got little inflated due to that. However, I do not mind crossing $1K and its wonderful to have crossed this rubicon. I consider 3 steps of $1K to achieve my target of $3K in 3K and $1K was first step. Hope to get away from rat race after my target is achieved. Thanks for stopping by as always.
