Dividend Income Update – March 2016

I’ve completed 330 days of freedom race and it has been awesome with great support of DGI bloggers. I’m truly blessed to be posting it from a country where Statue of Liberty stands. It stands for freedom and I hope to achieve my own financial freedom in 3000 days when I complete my race.

Wow. I crossed another milestone figure of $800 in passive income, holy molly. I’m super excited to write about my passive dividend checks that I received in month of March. They are now pouring into my account without lifting a finger. So far, I’ve got 82 fantastic companies in my growing Portfolio

I hope that this passive income report provides inspiration to all the readers out there that even when you are starting out fresh, you can still do it. Although, it is a long race: slow and steady, we can win it on our terms and time. Without further ado, here are dividends received:

Total passive dividend income for March: $882.56. So far, I’ve received $2008.35 as passive dividend income.

Instead of getting a single salary once a month, I got paid by 32 fantastic companies throughout the month, simply by owning a tiny sliver of a slice. Imagine that there are thousands of people hired by those companies and that they are working for you, rather than, you working for them. This feeling of achieving financial freedom over 3000 days, is what drives me to keep racing and I’m sure readers alike!

Full Disclosure: Long on above mentioned stocks.

How did your passive dividend income come along in March?

  1. Wow, great month!! That’s some serious passive income you got pouring in, so congrats. I finally passed the $100 mark for the first time, as I’m around $125ish for the month, which is great for me considering all the dividend cuts of late. Keep racing!!

    • Hi SAD,

Yeah. It was incredible to be receiving that kind of income passively. You can pay many pills: electricity, water, tv, car insurance, life, and some with that amount! Its all about covering expenses with the passive income. Congrats on crossing $100, and I’m sure you will be achieving your dreams, as sometime back, mine was less than $100 also. This is all amazing stuff! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi IH,

Appreciate the kind words! Amen. $18K! That will be really smoking hot number to achieve 🙂 Though, I could smell $1K in air sometime this year. You are doing great over there and keep up the good work. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  2. Almost $1000 of passive income that is definitely impressive and certainly provides inspiration for the rest of us on this journey. It just proves that the power of a dividend growth strategy overtime will help us achieve the financial freedom we all strive for. Thanks for sharing and keep on killing it !

    • Hi DF,

Could not agree more! Getting close to $1K is definitely a great number. I’m glad that it is inspiring you and other readers alike: I’m sure you will achieving these numbers, just keep at it and before you notice, you are there! These numbers are real and cash in hand is real to touch and feel. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  3. Simply Amazing R2R….there really isn’t anything else to say. Great progress and the fruits of your labor are finally starting to pay off. I love the fact that you got paid by 32 companies this month. You are receiving dividends from more companies than days in March haha

You are right, slow and steady wins the race. Dividend investing is not sexy. If you want to make a quick buck and become an instant millionaire, well then, I suggest you participate in a different race. The best companies to invest in are often the most boring, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Again, congrats on the great month. Keep up the amazing work here.

    Bert

    • Hi Bert,

Appreciate the warm words! Yeah, all the hard work put over time, is starting to yield the results. I love to diversify as I learnt my lessons from debacle of KMI: it was a set back for me to have reduced income from a major holding and needed to add some more companies so that a single company does not influence my passive income. Ha! I did not notice that interesting fact: I was getting paid almost daily last month w/o any doing any work, how cool is that!

Dividend investing is not sexy and definitely not fashionable 🙂 we can not hit the jackpot like in lottery but we can definitely build wealth slowly and steadily over time. All the hard work in beginning pays off in the end. Don’t you love boring companies, you bet.

Thanks for stopping by as always and commenting.

    • Hi PIP,

Definitely: it was a nice double bump up that I’m glad to have. Don’t we love those ones! Next double up will bring me towards magic number: $1K 🙂 Great stuff over there as well and keep inspiring. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi DR,

Nice take! I’m glad and look forward to the month when I cross $1K barrier: need to get ready to pop up a champagne in style when it happens 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  4. Keep it up R2R. You’re ahead of your schedule. You’re killing it bud. It’s totally addicting and I’m happy for your progress. Thanks for sharing!!
Keep hustling it up bud and dont’ stop. Cheers!

    • Hi DH,

Its totally addicting 🙂 Who will not fall in love with the cash gushing in your bank day in and day out w/o lifting a single finger, though, we need to work hard to come to that place. Appreciate the kind words. You are definitely killing over there with close to my target of $3K, congrats and great work. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  5. Wow… you have a huge portfolio and a very wide array of companies paying you in March. Congrats on a really nice sum of passive income for the month. Not familiar with VGR and NMFC from your list above. Guess I have some homework to do. Awesome results and thanks for sharing.

    • Hi DH,

Guess, diversification to the core! This is becoz of lessons learnt in past when some companies cut their dividends. As it is said that diversification is the only free lunch available in investing, I’m following this dictum. I’ve added several companies in past and almost reaching my desired comfort level. I like to have top 5-7 companies from each major sector, including BDCs, no MLPs though. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  6. Wow that’s insane amount of dividend income! Very impressive stuff. Love that fact that you received money from so many companies, talk about income diversification.

    • Hi Tawcan,

You said it best: its income diversification so that if one or two companies do not hurt you badly. Once you are retired, you do not want to go to back to cover your bills and more companies paying you, better it is. Appreciate the nice words. Thanks for stopping by as always and commenting.
