Dividend Income Update – August 2017

I’ve completed 840 days of freedom race and it has been awesome with all the support. I’m truly blessed to be posting it from the country where Statue of Liberty stands. It stands for freedom and I hope to achieve my own financial freedom in 3000 days when I complete my race.

I crossed over $1500 in passive income, although it was slightly less than last quarter. I’m excited to write about my passive dividends received in month of Aug as they flowed into my account even without me lifting any fingers. Now, I’ve got 34 fantastic companies in my Portfolio.

I hope that this passive income report provides inspiration to all the readers out there that even when you are starting out fresh, you can still do it, like my journey just short time back. Although, it is a long race: slow and steady, we can win it on our terms and time. Without further ado, here are dividends received:

AES Corp. (AES): $18.00
Chatham Lodging Trust (CLDT): $77.00
EPR Properties (EPR): $34.00
Eaton-Vance In. (EXG): $38.00
Gov. Properties Income Trust (GOV): $129.00
HCP, Inc. (HCP): $185.00
Hospital Properties Trust (HPT): $117.00
Main Street Capital Corp. (MAIN): $101.75
National Healthcare Inv., Inc (NHI): $95.00
Realty Income Corp. (O): $37.01
Omega Healthcare Inv., Inc. (OHI): $352.00
Sr. Housing Properties Trust (SNH): $214.50
STAG Industrial, Inc. (STAG): $58.75
AT&T, Inc. (T): $147.00
Verizon Com. Inc. (VZ): $202.13

Total passive income for Aug: $1,806.14

Instead of getting a single salary once a month, I got paid by above companies throughout the month, simply by owning a tiny sliver of a slice. Imagine that there are thousands of people hired by those companies and that they are working for you, rather than, you working for them. This feeling of achieving financial freedom over 3000 days, is what drives me to keep racing and I’m sure readers alike!

Full Disclosure: Long on above mentioned stocks.

How was your passive dividend income in the month of August?

    • Hi RMIL,

Thank you. $3K in 3K is the target and if it comes earlier, better it will be 🙂 I selectively invest the dividends in stocks that I think are fairly valued and not in auto reinvest mode. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi Doug,

It will be tough to hit $2k this year. I’m looking at some other companies to add in the mix, but, happy to to hold great companies. Have been waiting for correction since sometime 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi Don,

There is no fixed amount: in fact, I’ve hardly put any money over last few months due to expensive market. Once the correction happens, will put some cash to work. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Hi PID,

Appreciate the kind words. In the beginning, I put some serious cash to work, however, recently, I’m getting concerned about the market valuations and only gingerly adding few stocks here and there. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  1. Race –

I would say you are running pretty darn fast in this race. HCP, once they get back on track of div increases, should bode well for you and me. Did you end up holding on to QCP shares? They are going through quite a bit right now…

Congrats overall on a killer month!

    • Hi Lanny,

I’ve my fingers crossed for HCP holdings, but, keeping it for now. If they start increasing the divs, we will be for sure happy campers 🙂 No, I sold out QCP shares, as it was a small number. Thanks for stopping by as always and commenting.

    • Hi BHL,

It was great to have reached goal for Aug but, still its a long way. Not happening as fast as I would like 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  2. Great month for you! I’m unbelievable far behind you, but eventually I’ll catch up!

And I’m eager to see when you will buy back into the market. As I’m also holding a relative large cash position and hope for better times, until then I keep buying in small lots of my best ideas.

    • Hi DR,

We need to start out somewhere and I’m sure you will be on your way. Good luck on your journey. I also hold some cash and reluctant to invest in late cycle of bull market, only recently started nibbling here and there. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
