Happy Thanksgiving…

First of all, my thoughts and prayers go out to Paris victims and their families!

Holidays round the corner, we have Thanksgiving day coming next week: Nov 26th and super shopping Black Friday on Nov 27th when most of the retailers open very early, offer promotional sales and their books going into black. It is an eagerly awaited day for lot of folks who are waiting for great deals and represents a beginning of Great Shopping season that lasts till the year end.

Thanksgiving day is celebrated as a national holiday in Canada and United States. It has religious and cultural leanings historically and considered to have association with harvest festival. It is rooted in English traditions dating long back and considered as special blessings from God. Canadian Thanksgiving is traced back to the French settlers who came to New France with the explorers and had feasts at the end of harvest season.

In Germany, it is known as Erntedankest, Japan as Niliname-sai and folks in many other countries also celebrate it. Whatever the reason of celebrating it, I’m grateful to be living in the land where Statue of Liberty stands and thank all the blessings that we have, considering that half of world – close to 3 billion people live on much less.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Holidays!!

Crossed Finish Line to $100K Milestone!

I’m super excited to post that I’ve reached the milestone figure of $100K this month of Nov. My current Portfolio reading is $103,193.30 by my count. I did it!  Through my regular posts, it is well documented how I’ve come to this place. Last month, I also completed 180 days of my race. My target at the end of 180 days was $180 and I successfully achieved it.

As you all know, I started my race of 3000 days to earn $3000 per month and this month, I am onto 210 days race period and looking for $210 of passive dividend income. With all of these buys, I hope to achieve it but, it gets increasingly challenging as the race progresses due to the capital needed.

Although, I’m glad to cross the $100K finish line, however, I’m after holly-grail of passive dividend income that will come from this portfolio. This will set me up for Financial Independence (FI) and literally freedom to do what I would love to do with my time. This is the motivating force behind all this hard work. Nothing can be bigger than this: imagine you can be available for the causes that are close to your heart and even spare some extra moments for your family and kids. Freedom at work in true sense!

I started with few buys like Proctor and Gamble (PG), Realty Income (O), Royal Dutch Shell (RDS B), Kinder Morgan (KMI) and currenty, own 53 quality blue-chip companies, achieving my initial goal of 50 companies. I plan to add few more names in my portfolio collection to achieve the desired diversification, as the saying goes: don’t put all the eggs in one basket.

The support of DGI community has been incredible and I thank you whole-heartily for stopping by Race2Retirement. Thank you!

Thanks for reading.

About me

I’m your host to a wonderful journey that I’m about to take. This has been in plans since long. I’ve thought about getting retired before the ripe age of 40, b’tched about it for wayyyy too long 🙂 deliberated about it, dreamed about it, you name it! Its time for action, guys!. Now, I’ve decided to take a plunge and in full public view so that its out there for all to see my journey to financial freedom.

There are many great blogs out there ’bout Frugality, Budgeting, Early Retirement, Investing and I’ve been inspired by many of them. No doubt about that. In particular, I’m inspired by DivHut who started way back in 2007 and more impressively inspired by PassiveIncomeMavericks who just started few years back only and now earns several hundred dollars. I wanted to create a blog with a specific goal along with a specific time frame to attain my freedom and be free from rat race. My Freedom goal: 3000 Days to Earning $3000 Per Month!

You can also start your journey with me and if you are 30 years old, you will be financially independent before 40; and if you are already 40, you can attain FI before 50, much earlier than traditional retirement; if you start at a young age of 25, you can attain freedom before 35: in just 3000 Days. Age really does not matter, as long as you want to take a small step and make a decision to be retired early. Hope this blog inspires you to attain your freedom and follow my journey and progress that I’ll work very hard to achieve.

It is a race of 3000 Days for me and I need to have perseverance to sustain this race. But, with the readers support, this journey will be a shared one and of shared inspiration!!

To An Early Retirement, Getting Keys to Freedom and Life filled with Joy!
